Some random wanderings/ wonderings..
I went on a walkabout in Kent, WA, through what seemed to be the warehouse section of the city. Here are some wonderings I had along the way.
1. Found (and kept) things (in picture): two round white lane dividers that were on the sidewalk. Some gloves, only one matching pair. They will be put in the washing machine. Found (and not kept) things: black milk crate..although I did want to pick it up. I did not know how long my walkabout would be. I also found and kept the gold-colored bottle cap you see in the picture. How do people that just throw their trash onto the ground think about the world? Themselves?2. I saw a sign at a bar, “Best dive bar in Kent.” What makes a dive bar? And what makes “the best” dive bar anywhere? Does a business really want to advertise they are the “best” dive bar available?
3. “Now hiring” was a flashing sign I spied as I walked toward a railroad overpass. Miles Sand and Gravel are hiring, probably dump/rock truck drivers? What would it take for me to be a crushed rock truck driver? Is it much different than driving the learning of a group of wide-eyed youngsters?
4. I’m staying at a hotel for one night. I like to have a mini-spa experience when I’m staying at a hotel--hot bath with salts and bubbles. I know, I’m a guy, but I think guys can have “spa experiences.” Well, it makes my back and body feel better, and who wouldn’t like that? How could I make hot water to put rocks in for hot rocks? Hmmm..
5. An Amazon distribution/ delivery warehouse/compound was
on m
y way back to the hotel. Does the gas station across the street get a lot
of Amazon delivery truck business? Does Amazon pay a reduced rate for gas because
they are so BIG? I looked toward the end of the warehouse..it seemed to stretch
for…a very long time. Maybe a quarter of a mile? How many square feet is one of
those buildings? How many people are employed at that site? Do they make a “living
wage?”
6. Earlier (not on my walkabout) I purchased some beef tongue (lengua). Yum. How can I best keep it cold for most of the day, if all I have is ice from the hotel’s ice machine?
No more thoughts, for now..
